Our Story
Every person has a story worth understanding.
Unbound Counseling began with a simple belief: mental health care should feel personal.
When life feels heavy, asking for help can be one of the hardest things we do. We wanted to create a place where people could take that first step knowing they’d be met with kindness, respect, and people who genuinely care.
Today, Unbound Counseling is proud to serve children, adolescents, adults, couples, and families across West Virginia. Our team believes that good counseling starts with listening well, building trust, and creating a space where people feel safe enough to be themselves.
Unbound is co-owned by Dr. Brenda Everett and Amanda Snyder, whose different experiences have shaped the heart of our practice.
Brenda is a Licensed Professional Counselor, Approved Licensed Professional Supervisor, educator, Army combat veteran, and researcher. Her passion is helping people make sense of their stories, understand how trauma and stress affect the mind and body, and discover that healing is possible. She has spent her career expanding access to mental health care while mentoring clinicians who share that same commitment.
Before joining Unbound, Amanda worked as a Physician Assistant, caring for patients in medical settings and seeing firsthand how confusing and overwhelming healthcare can feel. She now uses that experience to shape how Unbound serves our community. From the first phone call to the intake process and the systems that support our clinicians, Amanda helps ensure that getting care feels welcoming, organized, and accessible. She is passionate about removing barriers so people can spend less time navigating the process and more time focusing on what matters most.
Together, Brenda and Amanda have built a practice that believes every interaction matters. Whether someone is calling for information, meeting with our intake team, or sitting down with a therapist for the first time, we want every person to know they are welcome here.
We believe people deserve to be known before they’re treated.
Thank you for considering Unbound Counseling. We’re honored to be part of your story.
