Emily Poznanski is a Licensed Professional Counselor.
She has a Masters of Arts in Counseling from West Virginia University.
Emily has experience working in behavioral health agencies and crisis residential units.
She is licensed to practice in West Virginia.
Emily’s primary focus is working with adolescents and adults (ages 15-50).
Some of her clinical interests are depression, anxiety, addiction and substance use concerns, adjustment, trauma, relationship concerns, stress management, and codependency.
Emily believes that we, as humans, are able to grow and heal when we feel safe, supported, and heard. This belief is an anchor in how Emily strives to create a trusting and safe environment for her clients, giving gratitude to the beautiful and vulnerable process that therapy is. Emily believes that counseling is not about bringing “deficits” to light, but to help heal the parts of ourselves that were created for a purpose.
Emily utilizes EMDR, Attachment Theory, Psychodynamic, Polyvagal, and other Humanistic approaches to therapy. Emily’s approach to counseling is rooted in helping clients create an understanding through naming their experiences in a non judgemental way, to provide a space to exist as you are, and to help clients unbind from traumas or experiences that may impact their beliefs and experiences.
During Emily’s free time, she enjoys spending time reconnecting with nature, hiking, spending time with the people that make her heart feel warm, exploring new places, and enjoying delicious coffee or tea.
